India Zindabad !
In my childhood, I had a great interest in cricket but it was for a very short period. Rarely do I watch matches but I usually watch World Cup because dad always watches India matches and that event alone was important for me in the world of cricket. I watch CSK matches if it is the IPL final. This is all the love I had for cricket.
Now I'm living in Wazirabad, Delhi. I usually go to Kesari library, a study library on the 3rd floor. I never go late at night to the library, if go I go only in the morning time.
Today while buying milk I heard sounds from the direction of the library and I thought the sounds must be coming from the library. I messaged a friend from the library asking what is happening. He said it is match day so it will be like that. Initially, I thought I will not experience this and planned to stay in my room but after some time my interest was piqued.
When I reached the top floors of the library, there were students all crammed together like bees in a bee hive watching the match on mobile and iPad. I didn't know any of them but soon I also found a hive and it was last over. India VS Pakistan match was going on, I reached there to watch only the last over. It was a little bit nail-biting as Jadeja got bolded at the first ball of the last over - for this some Pakistani girls were cheering and seeing that boys also cheered hard for those girls forgetting that they lost an important wicket. Then came Dinesh Karthik and he scored singles and we were restless, but Hardik cooly hit the next ball to six and India won the match.
As soon as this happened, everyone shouted
" India Zindabad; Pakistan Murdabad "
" Vande Mataram"
The environment was so frenzied and I couldn't stop smiling, I was smiling from ear to ear seeing all those boys shouting these slogans. People were throwing empty water bottles on the floor to make a sound, many guys whistled which made my ears ring. It was one of the memorable moments.
Then shouting matches started between buildings but the library having more strength of boys won this without effort. Then people formed groups and started running in the streets shouting the same slogans again. Crackers burst and people waved their mobile torch on the terrace of many buildings and it was a scene to watch.
There was a tea shop and that guy called every student to come and have chai for free. My friend called me and along with him, we had free chai.
Now I understand the importance of cricket!
